General Cases
In the recent past giant corporations have reported making tremendous savings from FOSS. For example Intel reportedly saved US$200 million from a switch to GNU/Linux from Unix and Amazon reported a savings of US$ 17 million from switching their servers to GNU/Linux. Major financial institutions like Credit Suisse First Boston, Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs and Charles Schwab are moving a significant portions of their infrastructure to FOSS systems so that they can reap on cost saving.
